Politics APC Threatens To Recall, Expel Rivers Lawmaker, Chidi Wihioka

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Elele Leadership Caucus, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, has threatened to recall the member representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chidi Wihioka, over alleged misrepresentation. It has also said that Hon. Wihioka risked expulsion from the party in his constituency for anti-party activities. The APC Elele Leadership Caucus’ resolution was contained in a statement signed by 20 prominent members of the party, after a crucial meeting in the Local Government Area. The local council’s party leadership said Hon. Wihioka had since been removed as their caucus leader and advised him to stop speaking for them at all levels. The party caucus reaffirmed their loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari, Rotimi Amaechi and Chibuike Ikenga at all the levels of the party. Politics Reps To Investigate Governor Yahaya Bello Over Non-Payment Of Salaries

The House of Representatives has mandated its Ad Hoc Committee on Bailout Funds to investigate non-payment of salaries of Kogi workers and report back within one week. The House also mandated the Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) to within one week report and explain the utilization of Salary Bail-out Fund given to states. The directives followed a unanimous adoption of a Motion of Urgent National Importance moved by Rep. Sunday Karimi (Kogi-PDP) at the plenary presided by the Speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara on Tuesday. Moving the motion, Karim said in spite the federal statutory allocation, salary bail-out funds and Paris Club refund received by Kogi Government, non-payment of state and local government workers salaries lingered. He said Mr Edward Soje, a Director in the Kogi Civil Service Commission committed suicide for not being able to meet his obligations as a father and a husband. The Family members of former chairman of Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration begged the former pension boss to join the change agenda, with the assurance of security protection. World Morocco: 4 Ministers Sacked For Delaying Development Project

Mohammed VI, Morocco’s King recently fired four ministers for delaying development programs set up to benefit the northern region of the country. The development project which accounts for about $700 million is said to cover programs to help improve Education, Health, Housing and training. According to the statement released by the royal palace on Tuesday, the ministers of education, health and housing, and a junior minister of professional training were expelled following the report on the mountainous Rif region by the kingdom’s accounting office. The auditors’ report found that “several sectors of government and public institutions” haven’t fulfilled their commitments in implementing the development projects. AP reported. President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to immediately reshuffle his kitchen cabinet, following the scandal surrounding the reinstatement of the dismissed former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, into the Federal Civil Service. The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), in a statement issued on Wednesday, by its Secretary-General, Comrade Alade Bashir Lawal, expressed sadness that Maina, sacked in 2013 for sharp practices in respect of about N2 billion pension funds, was smuggled back into the Federal Civil Service by key Government Officials close to Mr President. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday mandated its bailiff to serve former President Goodluck Jonathan with summons within five days. Justice Abang Okon held that the order will enable Jonathan to appear in court to testify in the trial of former National Publicity Secretary of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Olisah Metuh. The judge also ordered the prosecution to persuade the Department of State Security (DSS) to produce the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki in court at the next trial date. The family of Abdulraaheed Maina have come out and firmly put Nigeria's president Buhari in the middle of the whole saga.  In a report which has appeared on Daily Trust newspaper, the family stated that Abdulrasheed Maina went on self-exile over threats to his life and only came back after being invited by the president. They also claim that the current issues are not really targeted at Maina but at President Buhari. To defend the family name, they have pledged to expose those behind the current campaign against their son.

Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi west Senatorial district has likened civil servants in the state to Internally Displaced Persons (IPDs). The House of Representatives also on Wednesday mandated its Ad Hoc Committee on Bailout Funds to investigate non-payment of salaries of Kogi workers and report back within one week. Melayem who is coordinating about 40 of his colleagues to donate no fewer than 1, 260 bags of rice to civil servants in the state said the move was borne out of the pitiable condition of workers in the state.   Melaye, who raised the issue on the floor of the Senate and later briefed newsmen, said many civil servants in the state could no longer feed their families, following the alleged refusal of the state government to pay months of outstanding salaries. He said the food items, when collated, would be shared equally among civil servants in the 21 local government areas of the state.

The wife of Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram terrorist organisation appeared to be one of those killed by Nigerian Air Force air strikes on Durwawa settlement in Urga, near Konduga, Borno state, the Nigerian Air Force has announced. Her name is Mallama Fitdasi. A statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya said intelligence reports indicated that she appeared to have been killed in the air strikes.
