President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to his main office inside the Presidential Villa 81 days after he returned from a medical trip in the United Kingdom.  He had been operating from an office located inside his official residence and another one located inside the Presidential Banquet Hall. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had said the President’s office needed renovation because of its devastation by rodents during his long period of absence. Metro Court Orders Forfeiture of Ikoyi Apartment Where $43m Cash Was Found by EFCC

A Lagos state Federal High Court has ordered the interim forfeiture to the Federal Government, Flat 7b No 16, Osborn Road Ikoyi, Lagos, the apartment where operatives of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered the sums of $43,449,947.00, €27,800 and N23,218,000.00 in April. Metro Enugu Thief Electrocuted to Death While Vandalizing Power Station

An unidentified man has been electrocuted to death while vandalizing a 100KVA power substation at Emene Industrial Layout. It's believed that the vandal probably arrived at the substation when there was no supply and in the process of loosening the HV fuse, supply was restored and he was electrocuted. The Senior Special Assistant on Youths and Students’ Matters to senate president Bukola Saraki, Ikenga Ugochinyere has tendered his resignation letter.  In a letter dated October 3, he said he resigned because he just emerged as the national chairman of a newly formed political party. “Sequel to the issuance of certificate of registration by INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) to my newly formed political party and my emergence as National Chairman, I wish to tender my resignation as your Senior Special Assistant on Youths and Students’ Matters. Politics 3 Security Issues Buhari Discussed With Armed Forces Today

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja inaugurated the Armed Forces Council. According to a statement by Tukur Gusau, the Public Relations Officer to the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, the last Armed Forces Council meeting was held on July 17, 2014. They talked about the: 1. Ratifications of the new National Defence Policy, 2.The revised terms and conditions of service officers, 3. Ratings airmen. Defence minister Mansur Dan-Ali said the ratifications will enable the Armed Forces cope with changing security challenges. The council, established by CAP A20 of Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and Section 4 of the Armed Forces Act is to be responsible, under the general authority of the president, for command, discipline and administration of and for all other matters related to the Armed Forces.

A former Acting Governor of Taraba State, Sani Abubakar Danladi has told the Gombe State Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) how he and others shared N450 million meant to influence victory for former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 general elections. According to a release signed and made available to newsmen in Gombe by the EFCC zonal office, Danladi, who was arrested last week in Abuja but later released on bail, told EFCC investigators that he collected the money through Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya and Hon. Mark Bako Useni. He said the amount was part of the N23 billion allegedly doled out by former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke to influence the outcome of the 2015 presidential election. The former Acting Governor, according to the statement, also told the EFCC interrogators that he chaired the eight-man committee that disbursed the money in Taraba State. Politics Bauchi: Governor Abubakar's Wife Offers Scholarships to 115 IDPs

Wife of Bauchi State governor, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar, has awarded scholarships to 115 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable children. The scholarship was provided to the beneficiaries through her ‎Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Bauchi Sustainable Women Economic Empowerment and Peace Initiative (BSWEEP). Speaking during the occasion, Mrs Abubakar stated that the scholarship was given to the beneficiaries to help them acquire education which she said is the bedrock of national development.  She added that the beneficiaries were drawn from IDPs in the state, vulnerable children as well as 15 selected female pupils with special needs from Special Education Centre, Yelwa, Bauchi. Mrs Abubakar further informed that 50 of the beneficiaries are in junior secondary schools, while 50 others are in senior secondary school. In his remarks at the event, Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar commended the gesture of his wife towards the less privileged.

According to Dailypost, the presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Gabriel Kolawole also gave a 7-day ultimatum that the National Headquarters of the Corps located at No 57 Iya Abubakar Crescent, off Alex Ekwueme way, opposite Jabi Lake, Jabi, Abuja, be unsealed. A 25-year old truck driver, Mr. Philip Eshogaya got into trouble after he publicly told his co-tenant Chizoba that his wife, Rita, was a prostitute and that he should not boast about her because he knew her too well. Politics Nigerian Senate Finally Clears MTN From Illegal Forex Transfer

Nigerian Senate on Wednesday approved a report largely exonerating MTN Nigeria of foreign exchange infractions after being accused of illegally repatriating $14 billion to its parent. But the Senate report also asked Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to sanction Stanbic IBTC Bank “for improper documentations in respect of capital repatriation and loan repayments” on behalf of MTN. The upper legislative chamber had agreed in September last year to investigate if Africa’s biggest telecoms firm unlawfully repatriated $13.92 billion from Nigeria – its most lucrative market which generates a third of its revenue – between 2006 and 2016. A spokesman for MTN said, “we welcome the report. We will study it in more detail. As we’ve placed on record previously, we have always insisted that our actions have been compliant with the law in this regard.”

President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has adopted certain strict measures to check against smuggling of rice into the country. Minister of Agriculture Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, dropped tye hint on Wednesday. He said the federal government is seeking ways to ensure that the Memorandum of Understanding (M0U) Nigeria signed with its neighbouring countries to check smuggling is implemented. Speaking shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Ogbeh said the federal government has read the riot act to smugglers, saying it will no longer tolerate their activities. Tension is brewing up at Iyana-Iba, around the main gate to the Lagos State University, as hundreds of commercial motorcycle riders, otherwise called Okada have barricaded the entire road leading from Lagos to Badagry area of the state.
