Politics Atiku Denies Report Declaring For 2019 Presidency

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has denied declaring his intention to run for President in 2019 as circulated in a video making the rounds on social media. Mr Atiku, in a statement released on his social media handle, said the video is a bad job of bad people with bad intentions. According to Atiku, some mischief makers are using a video clip extracted from his 2011 presidential declaration to create a false impression that he formally declared for the 2019 presidential election. He said such propaganda is being deliberately promoted by political opponents in order to create acrimony. National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has said he wished he could bring back his deceased son, Jide Tinubu. President Muhammadu Buhari is to embark on tour of South-east states beginning with Ebonyi to improve the relationship between the region and the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo disclosed this on Thursday after a closed door meeting with Mr. Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Abuja. “The South-east before now was not measuring in APC. But we have worked out strategies and modalities on how to improve relationship between the people of South-east and APC government. “That was top on the agenda and the need for Mr. President to come to South-east as quickly as possible, to begin to show his presence. “Luckily, the President will be coming to Ebonyi State very soon and he will pass through Imo State to Anambra State. With few months left before political activities to gather steam towards the 2019 elections, members of the Atiku Support Group (ASG) nationwide have decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The Director-General Atiku Support Group (ASG), Honorable Mark Wosi, disclosed that the change was inevitable as a result of the irregularities going on in the APC from the state to the national level. According to him, “APC is not focused; they promised change and an all-inclusive government but what is being obtainable is different; as a group, we felt we are not being carried along.” Wosi maintained that the group has decided to go back to the PDP in order to “change the change. Mild drama on Friday as senior official of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said plans have been put in place for officials to "sleep with" corps members on the eve of the Anambra gubernatorial election. While addressing civil society at a dialogue in Abuja, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Anambra, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji said INEC is ready for the election to the last detail. However, his choice of "sleep with" caused a little drama in the hall, but he was quick to clarify that he meant the officials and corpers to be deployed for the election, would "sleep in the same place" on the eve of the election. Participants laughed at this even as the convener of the dialogue, the Executive Director of Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), Clement Nwankwo joked that only those with dirty minds would interpret Orji's words with cynical interests. The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) has announced a suspension of its ceasefire with the federal government, threatening to resume attacks on oil assets. In a statement on Friday, Murdoch Agbinibo, the group’s spokesman, said unlike the 2016 attacks, this would be “brutish, brutal and bloody”. A former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, on Friday told the Federal High Court in Abuja that he would not be able to remember if the sum of N400m paid to a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, in 2014, was for the provision of security services. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had alleged that Metuh and his company, Destra Investments Limited fraudulently received the sum of N400m from ONSA without any justification and spent same on the party and personal affairs. Dasuki is Metuh’s eighth defence witness in the matter. The ex-NSA was questioned under cross-examination by the counsel prosecuting Metuh on behalf of the EFCC, Sylvanus Tahir. World Zambia Sends Nigerian Pastor Packing Out Of The Country For Bad Conduct

The Zambian Government has given Omega Fire Ministries pastor, Oso Ebosele two days to leave the country after what it described as troublesome and divisive conduct of the pastor which has split the church into two parties. Chief Government Spokesperson, Kampamba Mulenga, announced this in Lusaka. Ms Mulenga says it is feared that with the Pastor’s continued stay in the country, the acrimony in Omega Fire Ministries could result into the breakdown and law and order. She says Pastor Obesele was given 48 hours to leave the country, in accordance with the Immigration and Deportation Act number 18 of 2010. Ms Mulenga also said contrary to speculations, the Government has not closed Omega Fire Ministries and is not against Nigerian Pastors. She said Omega Fire Ministries Headquarters in Nigeria is free to send a senior pastor to come and help reconcile the membership in Lusaka.

Alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, has filed an application seeking to be released on bail and for his case to be given an accelerated hearing. While reacting to the application, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms. Titilayo Shitta-Bay, described the bail application, seeking accelerated hearing filed alongside an application seeking to quash the charges as conflicting, confusing and an abuse of court processes.
