Multiple People Shot at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, New York City

Police said multiple people had been shot at a New York City hospital. The gunfire broke out at 2.50pm on Friday inside the Bronx Lebanon hospital in the Bronx borough. Police had no immediate information on whether anyone was killed.   Television images showed the hospital surrounded by police cars and fire trucks. An NYPD spokesman said: “NYPD is on scene at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital where there are reports of several people shot.

Hakeem Bello Osagie has resigned as the Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, following restructuring plan for the telecommunications firm. The Guardian gathered from an insider that the resignation is effective immediately.   “The development also reflects Mr. Bello-Osagie’s deep commitment to protecting the interest of all stakeholders. It is now expected that Etisalat Nigeria under its new shareholding structure will navigate through its current loan repayment challenge with minimum impact,” the source added. With this development, the new board is expected to assume control of Etisalat. Regulatory agencies, including the Nigeria Communications commission (NCC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other stakeholders have ensured that the best decisions are taken in the interest of the subscribers, employees and the Nigerian economy owing to a bank loan default by the telecom operator.

A suspected member of the Badoo cult group has been burnt alive in Ikorodu, Lagos state. The Badoo gang has been terrorizing Ikorodu of late, perpetrating gory killings of whole families. According to reports, the suspected cultist was apprehended around 2am at Igbo-Oluwo Estate Gate, Lowa. He was burnt to death by a mob at Jumofak Bus Stop, Ikorodu, close to Igbo-Oluwo. Residents of the community said the suspect was about to enter a compound when he was sighted by members of the community's vigilante group who pursued and apprehended him. He was naked the whole time, even before he was apprehended. Pleas to hand him over to the police fell on deaf ears of the mob who were angry over the repeated killings carried out by members of the secret cult in their community. Radio Biafra director, Nnmadi Kanu on Thursday paid a visit to Nigeria’s first Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amechi as part of his ongoing consultations. Kanu met with Amaechi, popularly known as Dara Akunwafo at his country home of Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.   A video of the visit was posted online. In it Amaechi was seen praying for the IPOB leader. Kanu was overheard in the video saying nothing will happen to him in respect to his bail term. Politics NAF 001 Plane That Took Buhari To London Incurred N48m In 105 Days

The Nigerian Air Force One (NAF 001) plane that took President Muhammadu Buhari to London has incurred at least N48 million since the number one citizen started receiving medical care in the United Kingdom (UK) till date.   The amount accounts for the aircraft’s parking charges for 105 days, at the rate of £1,000 (N460, 000) per night. Garba Shehu, senior media adviser to President Buhari on Thursday confirmed that the price is £1,000 charges, to disclaim allegation that £4,000 (N1.8 million) being spent on ‘Eagle One’ per day and a total of N193.2 million in the last 105 days. President Buhari is currently on the second treatment session in UK and has spent 54 days already. The first treatment session was between January 19 and March 10, which meant 51 days. On both occasions, the presidential jet remained idle on the parking lot.

Metro Nigeria: N-Power Rolls Out New Recruitment Process

The Nigerian government graduate employment scheme, N-Power, recently re-opened its portals for a fresh intake of applications from 2017 candidates. The application is expected to close on the 13th of July and millions of Nigerians have enrolled for the 300,000 slots. On Friday, N-Power rolled out a new process it said it will follow for the current recruitment. This includes: Application BVN Validation Test Device Selection Pre-selection Physical verification Selection Deployment This is to avoid some of the problems encountered during the 2016 recruitment process, N-Power said. It added that only applicants whose BVN records match their applications will move to the assessment stage.

According to N-Power, the online test will commence from the 1st of July, 2017. Applicants will receive a text message 24 hours before their respective assessment test commences.

Premium Times online news medium has published a report stating that several southern state governments are spying on their citizens.  The states mentioned are Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom. Metro Delta: Rats, Reptiles, Take Over Governor Okowa's Macopolo Buses

nvestigation by  DailyTimes  has revealed that rodents, including reptiles, have taken over the Delta state Macopolo buses which have become stagnant, and currently abandoned at a premises along Okpanam Road Asaba. The abandoned buses have also being allegedly used as refuse dump site by unsuspecting residents of the areas. It was reliably gathered that the last administration spent a whopping sum of N6 billion to purchase the buses to cushion the transportation problems Deltans were facing in the face of the ban on motorcycle (Okada).   Nigeria's former Aviation Minister Femi Fani Kayode has attacked Imo state's Governor Rochas Okorocha over his recent comments on the Biafra agitation.  The governor had belittled the Biafra leader, saying Kanu lacks the ability and influence to lead the Igbo nation to war. (Read more about that  here ) Reacting, Fani-Kayode termed Okorocha a "diaper-wearing" toddler, saying he isn't one-tenth the man Kanu is. "Diaper-wearing @GovernorRochas says that Nnamdi Kanu is not to be taken seriously. Truth is he is not one tenth of the man that Nnamdi is," he wrote on Twitter.

Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Markafi has said that he supported the idea of restructuring Nigeria.  The former Kaduna state governor added that it is wrong for anyone or leader to dismiss the clamour for a restructuring.   He stated this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Friday. This is coming after the Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai described the recent calls for a restructuring of Nigeria as political opportunism and irresponsibility. He said President Buhari’s administration has done far more in practical terms than past administrations hence describing those who are calling for it as mere opportunists.

Metro Evans' 'Gang Members' Hire Lawyer to Frustrate Case - Police

The police authorities said that they have power to keep the arrested kidnapping kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, widely known as Evans, in their custody. A senior police source told DailyTrust Newspaper that some people who felt that their interest was being threatened were the ones behind the move to get the court to release Evans. A lawyer had approached a Federal High Court to challenge the continued detention of Evans, stressing that it violated Evans’ fundamental human right.  Sources at the police high command said it was Evans’ gang members yet to be arrested that sought for and got the services of the lawyer to frustrate further investigation into the case.   Recall that the Police had equally secured an order of the Federal High Court to detain Evans for at least three months.
