A police officer on Friday, wounded a soldier during a fight at the automated teller machine (ATM) at a bank in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital. It gathered that trouble ensued when the soldier, who was in uniform came to make withdrawal, but did not want to follow the queue. When people began to protest, the police officer, who was in mufti confronted the Soldier demanding that, he must follow queue like any other person. The two began exchanging words until combat followed with both displaying their tactics. The policeman over powered the soldier and gave him the beating of his life until someone called the attention of both the military and police authorities in Damaturu. Former Fifa president Sepp Blatter has been accused by Hope Solo, the USA women's' football team goalkeeper, of having sexually assaulted her at Fifa's Ballon d'Or award ceremony in January 2013. Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Itse Sagay, on Friday announced that FG will partly fund the proposed N8.6 trillion budget for 2018 with funds recovered from treasury looters.  He said Nigerians had never witnessed the recovery of looted funds as huge as the quantum the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration had achieved in the last two years. Nigeria's Maritime University, based in Okerenkoko, Delta State, has now commenced operations, according to the Minister of Niger Delta, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani. He announced that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a significant increase of the take-off grant from N2B to N5B. Already, the grant has been included in the 2018 budget presented to the National Assembly earlier this week, under the Federal Ministry of Education allocation, superseding the previous provision of N2B. The university has also invited applications to fill academic staff vacancies. The University wants to hire professors, readers, senior lecturers, lecturers, assistant lecturers and graduate assistants to teach in the faculties of Science, Maritime Transportation, Maritime Engineering & Technology, Maritime Environmental Management and General Studies. The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi on Saturday said General Electric (GE) was investing 2.7 billion dollars on infrastructure, Operation and Maintenance (O and M) of the entire narrow gauge lines concession. According to him, GE is investing 700 million dollars on infrastructure, with two billion on O and M. He, however, said that the ministry concluded the agreement on interim trade with GE on Nov. 6, for them to commence work in December. Amaechi noted that with the interim trade, Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) would still be on the platform until proper negotiation and agreement were concluded by April 2018 when GE would fully take over. President Muhammadu Buhari recently presented the country's 2018 budget at the National Assembly. It was Nigeria's biggest budget in terms of size. Yet, it was "meagre" when compared with the budget of other major countries in Africa. Nigeria- $23 billion South Africa - $116 billion Angola - $124 billion Algeria - $53 billion Egypt - $40 billion. This is according to the senior economist, SPM Professionals, Paul Alaje.
