Politics Court Declares Ali Ndume's Suspension As Unconstitutional

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday declared the suspension of Senator Ali Ndume as illegal and unconstitutional.

Justice Babatunde Quadri on Friday held that the suspension of Ndume (APC, Borno South) for 90 legislative days (Six months) on March 30, 2017 "is a violation of his right to fair hearing and freedom of expression as guaranteed by sections 36 and 39 of the extant Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and Article 7(1) and 9(2) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, 2004."
