Politics What The Nigeria Senate is Doing to Deal With Abdulrasheed Maina

The Nigeria senate on Tuesday took steps to deal with the reinstation of ex-pension reform boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, who has been accused of a $2bn fraud. 

On Tuesday the Senate drafted the Chairmen and Vice- chairman of committees on Interior, Judiciary, Anti-corruption and Public Service Establishment to “determine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Maina’s return to the country and how he was reinstated to the service and got promoted to the post of Director after dismissal.”

“Tragically, not only did he return, he returned to an elevated position. This is an insult to all civil servants who are doing their work diligently. For me it’s a sad moment. We cannot be saying we are fighting corruption and continue to allow this.” – Chief Whip, Olusola Adeyeye, Osun-APC said.

Sports Batshuayi Brace Inspires Chelsea to Victory Against Watford

Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to score twice as Chelsea fought back from behind to win a six-goal thriller against Watford. Chelsea were on the back foot for much of this contest at Stamford Bridge but two goals from Batshuayi, either side of an 87th-minute header from Cesar Azpilicueta, snatched the champions a much-needed 4-2 victory. For a while, Chelsea looked on course for a third straight Premier League loss when Abdoulaye Doucoure and Roberto Pereyra's goals put Watford 2-1 up before Batshuayi and then Azpilicueta instigated the turnaround. Business Nigeria Immigration Service Rules Out Visa On Arrival For Africans

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has said that there was no policy for issuance of visa on arrival Africans visiting the country. A statement by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday James, an Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI), said the clarification had become necessary, in view of a “recently circulated visa policy”.
