Mercy Johnson - I Was Denied Movie Roles Because of My Dark Skin

Discrimination based on skin color is happening and thriving in Nollywood. Star actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie has revealed that she had difficulties landing roles at the beginning of her acting career because of her skin color.

In an interview with PUNCH, Mercy Johnson Okojie said, “It is very true that when I was starting out in the movie industry, it was difficult to get roles because of my complexion.

"I faced that a lot and I tell people that my success is just grace. Somebody once told me that I am too dark but that is where the grace and favour of God comes in.

"Regardless of everything, most of the dark-skinned actresses that are my contemporaries made it.

Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to score twice as Chelsea fought back from behind to win a six-goal thriller against Watford. Chelsea were on the back foot for much of this contest at Stamford Bridge but two goals from Batshuayi, either side of an 87th-minute header from Cesar Azpilicueta, snatched the champions a much-needed 4-2 victory. Business Nigeria Immigration Service Rules Out Visa On Arrival For Africans

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has said that there was no policy for issuance of visa on arrival Africans visiting the country. A statement by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday James, an Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI), said the clarification had become necessary, in view of a “recently circulated visa policy”.
